Weblink: How much is that Doggy in the Window?
http://www.doggyinthewindow.tumblr.com
In a world where man has poached control of natural selection,
communities have been polarized by the act of hybridization.
Dog breeding and "designer dogs" have been an ever increasing industry,
but its results and consequences are often left undocumented.
Doggy in the Window expresses views from animal advocates, dog
breeders, veterinarians and dog owners to allow the users to determine
their own point of view.

(Note to wider public - these comments should be taken in the context of this being a university class exercise! These RMIT projects are very sophisticated, and we welcome much simpler and entirely amateur contributions to Gene Pool too!).
Hi Michael, John and Kailyn
Thanks for your contribution to the Gene Pool. This is a classic!
A great project idea, interesting and so rich for the picking - heaps of scope for humour (hysterical!), and so many great characters to interview. And, there's a thematic edge to dog breeding too, which you've explored. It's all there - and well realised.
Some brief comments:
- nice use of tumblr etc for presentation
- it's obvious you put the research effort in, great to present the range of perspectives that you did.
- Michael and camera crew - great vox pops and presentation energy at the Million Paws walk - RMIT one day, Triple J's Hack the next I reckon! Watch your mike technique: there was lots of popping on mike. Try and keep yourself and your interviewees *on* mike too (especially when you're passing the mike between yourself and them i.e don't ask a question until you're back on mike). Camera crew - watch Michael's levels relative to the interviewees, try and keep them consistent. Good sound recording and mike technique can makes *all* the difference. With cross breeding clip, Michael was off mike.
- Have a quick spell-check eg. "vetrenerian" etc
- loved the b+w photo gallery from the Million Paws walk. Dog's eye perspective - nice one.
- The credits on Page 2 don't seem to display fully http://doggyinthewindow.tumblr.com/page/2
This is a top project. Fun and informative (and certainly helped me in my research for getting a doggie...)
Thanks again for adding to the Gene Pool. And good luck with your next projects.

Well now I want a Puggle despite all the advice and I had no idea they existed before so THANK YOU! Loved this theme as a reflection on evolution and thought it was a great hook to introduce a broad audience to the concepts of Selection. It's obvious that you have done much research and my only criticism is that I wanted MORE. The introduction of the "wolf" predecessor quote made me want to see someone like an Evolutionary anthropologist discuss how the human and dog relationship began/evolved. Great work!

Great project team doggy.
It was funny, well researched and informative. It fits the Gene Pool theme well.
Great presentation Michael. V. funny.
I especially liked the Walking the Dog and Breeder segments- well mixed and entertaining. And I thought the first clip, the animated one, set up the story well.
