A bit about me…

I'm a producer on ABC Radio National's Book Show. It is probably one of the best jobs in the world. But don't tell anyone.

I get to read books about pirates, 18th century female poets, the history of virginity (yes, it has a history) and then interview the authors of these books! At the moment, I'm reading about pacifism in English literature.

I studied anthropology at uni and I'm really interested in culture and how what we think is reflected in the world. Our culture is reflected in the books we read and write. Eventhough reading and writing are often solitary activities, we often talk about them in groups.

So, I'm curious about the books and writing communities that have developed in Australia. In the 18th century, there were the ranters, scribblers and hacks who milled around Grub St, London, but what is contemporary writing and reading culture like?

For the Letter Vox project, I'd like to hear from people across Australia about the writerly culture in which you're involved: from going to book clubs, to spoken word events or studying creative writing at university.

Have you taken part in the Concrete Dialogues in Perth, WA or have you been to the Overload Poetry festival in Melbourne? Your contribution doesn't have to be high fa luting...we all have different relationships to books and writing as creators and readers. This audio project is a fantastic way to tell the rest of Australia about your literary outpost.
