A bit about me…

I present Final Draft, a wee books and writing show on 2SER FM in Sydney. As an addictive pleasure, free books and regular conversations with the fascinating folk who write them beat narcotics hands-down. It also provides a little light relief from the sisyphean task of writing a PhD on the history of Australian prisons.

After nigh on a decade of knocking around the academy in one capacity or another, I realised that my radio had been on more or less the entire time. I couldn't work out which experience was the more educational, although I was pretty sure which one cost less. For the opportunity to pass through the speaker to the other side, I will always thank 2SER.

I dream of one day, when I have one or two coherent thoughts about what I'm doing, making radio half as good as any of the following: RN's "Hindsight", "Book Show", "Street Stories", "Radio Eye" or "Awaye"; Ira Glass' "This American Life"; Jonathan Goldstein's CBC show "Wiretap"; any of Ronan Kelly's RTE wonders; or WYNC's "Radio Lab"

Currently working on…

Monday night's show, the bloody thesis, and cooking up ideas for books/documentaries to work on when Monday night's show and the thesis are - oh blissful thought - done
