A bit about me…
I'm a hybrid media artist, music and filmmaker. I rely on commissions, performances, and the occasional grant to support myself. In September 2009 I commenced a one year residency at Dunmoochin, Australia. I work with EngageMedia and I'm on the Board of the Association for Progressive Communications.
You will find some of my early work in the Demo Show archives of JJJ, with Private Lives on Live at the Wireless and other vinyl releases going back to the early 1980s.
My work draws inspiration from the many cultures I have visited and the despair and injustices I have witnessed. This may take the form of installations, voice works, choral and ensemble compositions and collaborations, short duration documentaries or mirco-docs, large scale projection works for gallery and public space, or the more intimate acoustic pieces I'm currently writing.
Ultimately I seek to create spaces for inspiration, knowledge sharing and reflection... I create works that attempt to "shift consciousness", to raise awareness not by fear or threat, but by an appreciation and comprehension that not only are we all in this together, but that we're all made of the same stuff of stars too! Knocks me out every time!
