The SoundCulture AudioLab at Bundanon

Text: The SoundCulture AudioLab at Bundanon

Text

The SoundCulture Audio Laboratory at Bundanon is a professional live-in symposium constructed as a series of peer-to-peer workshops, seminars and performances.

Focus:
The Laboratory is focused on the theme of Sound and the Environment with special regard for the issues of location and locatedness; immersion and surroundedness; spatial and geo-spatially located audio; acoustic ecology; the body, sound and spatial memory; the relationship of natural and cultural soundscapes and acoustic patrimony; site history/oral history.

Organisational Mode:
The AudioLab a self-organising, low-cost event intended to foster an exceptionally high level of peer to peer interaction in an informal setting. There is no grant money supporting the venture, it is entirely self-funded and self resourced ~ say no to the nanny state!

The week operates on a model of self organisation lead by a core of practitioners who have agreed to facilitate various aspects of the programme.

WHERE:
The Lab runs at Riversdale, part of the Bundanon Trust, a superb rural retreat with a purpose built visitor centre (Glen Murcutt) bounded by wooded hills and the Shoalhaven river, the site is ideal for field projects, just watch out for the army of Wombats at night!
