Text: People Movers Are Ugly

Text

People movers are ugly. They are advertised and designed and equipped to disguise it but basically they’re vans.

Four-wheel drives are ridiculous. They’re priced and advertised and designed to disguise it, but they have a very limited application – as agricultural vehicles.

Kidi-porn is debasing. Tarting girls (i.e. under 12s) up in models of their mothers’ and elder sisters’ sexy clothes is not pretty or cute or acceptable. It is presenting them as immature, junior sex objects and debases us as a society.

Real estate porn is about greed. Homes are really not beautiful, or assets, or gorgeous. A certain kind of tap in the bathroom does not qualify as luxury. Houses are dwellings and need to meet certain standards of reasonable comfort and efficiency.

Paedophilia, rape, and bashing are vile and typically happen in our homes by our relatives - fathers, mothers, uncles, aunties, sisters, and brothers.

Wearing company labels on our clothes is being a billboard.

Cool is garbage. It is conforming to other people’s standards.

Food porn is gluttony.

Shopping is a chore. Retail therapy does not exist. Spending money on clothes for oneself or on objects for the house or for nearest and dearest does no-one any good.

Fast food is just barely food. Junk food is junk.

Credit is debt.

Dieting is addiction. To lose weight, one needs to eat differently and exercise. That’s all.

Cosmetic surgery is only for burns victims.

Cars are for transport, often inefficient, and always prodigally expensive.

The other day it crossed my mind to wonder what this decade will become known for – as the 1920s are The Roaring Twenties, and The Jazz Age, and the 1950s have an image in our minds, and the 1960s, similarly, and so on and so forth; I think these things I list above will be where people start looking for good things to call us.
