ANOTHER PLANET-QUAKE! LOOK OUT BEFORE THERE’S ANOTHER ONE!

I just feel totally left behind as the tsunami bangs on and on round the round planet.

When Idols like Standard & Poors and Moody’s (Ratings Agencies) - who kept giving those banks and other companies more and more stars as great investments and real reliable pillars of the community; the maestro, Alan Greenspan! Even abiding Genius of the Age, Milton Freedman!!! have ALL been criticised, chastened, chastised at the moment and I wonder how much of the legacy of their time will be abandoned, re-written, torn up.

‘Cause, being fifty-one, I remember when the roots of this ideology of codes of conduct for self-regulation and DeRegulation by governments first came in.

I mean, Steering, not Rowing, maaaan! We were Reinventing Government for so long, dude.

They were hot! Revolutionary. And they were linked with Regan in the US, Thatcher in the UK, and the New Right in Australia. A swag of new ideas entered the ‘mainstream’ then.

Have they been spewed out, now?

Trickle-down economics has been eschewed? ‘Small government’ a thing of the past? Keynesianism rules, OK?

If PM Rudd wants to get rid of ‘greed’ and the other thing, does it means the (w)hole heritage of that time is being dumped? ‘Cause that would be big-time.

Have we finished talking about Change? Change Management? The power of Leadership and Transformational Leadership and Entrepreneurial Leadership and Nice Leadership? And have we finished talking about the best one of all, the greatest idea of that greatest of times… ‘choice’?

‘Cause my ‘lifestyle’ needs some ‘renovation’.

But do I still need to remember: “Location!Location!Location!”???????????????????? Is that still the secret of success?
