Drowning
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Like a friend she embraced me
Cradling me, coaxing me on.
Her memories enveloped me.
Triumphs and sorrows,
Victories and vanquished,
Sailors and sirens.
I could struggle.
I could fight.
But she plays a lullaby
and I want to succumb.
Her body surrounds me.
I want to return to her womb.
Then,
I must breathe
and she becomes my enemy,
a lover spurned,
a mother cast aside,
as I hold onto life
and live.

Hi Kerry
I really like this piece you have composed, the reader can get the feel of the ocean through the flow of the words. Where did the image come from?

the photograph came from my time in the coastguard (townsville) We had to do mock rescues to get the feel of the life raft.
I have a facination with the ocean. It makes me feel part of something bigger. Like space, but much more accessible.

thanks D. I find the sea a dangerous pull of emotions. the thrill- the fear.
