Text: Update May 09

Into the Music dips a toe into pool... we’ve started a Music Features group for users interested in discussing, sharing, making and uploading stories about music. We welcome all media, all genres and all takes on the topic and would like anyone who enjoys thinking and exploring inside, outside and between the notes to join.

So please help us get this group into the groove by becoming a member and adding your stories, images, audio and video to the mix – and if you come across a pool user making stories about music, please drop them an invitation to join.

Back in broadcast land, Into the Music is featuring The Nerve - an excellent six-part series on music called produced by the same people who made the award-winning Wire (an ear-boggling radiophonic exploration of the impact of electricity on music). The Nerve examines music and ...the brain ...war ...spiritualty ...self and more – you’ll hear some quite off the wall music mixes between really gripping content.... And you don’t need to stop there – each episode is accompanied by an exhibition from our Radio National archives of theme related programs.

    Robyn Ravlich thinks it's

Robyn Ravlich thinks it's time to move south of the border musically, so in August 2009 Radio National's Into the Music program will be presenting some lively and sound rich features about the music of Oaxaca in Mexico, Chamame music from Argentina which is a rural based music that grew alongside tango but has been a beautiful secret until recently, and we'll hear magical songs sung by shamanic healers in the Amazon jungle in Peru to heal and to enchant. I would be very interested to hear how this music affects you, how you respond.
