Text: Fishermen are made by the sea
He said he was going to be
a poet, but the sea makes fisherman.
The moon makes astronauts.
Poetry must surely make a man
a poet against his better judgement.
So forgive me
when I wake you in the night
struggling for words
without them
I am only
a man.

In cairns, in a hotel room overlooking the waterfront, my husband read this poem into a microphone. gretchen was holding it. he enjoyed it. he is not a poet but he was taken with the Seda Things project and penned a piece about the life of a wave. I liked it. i was pleased he genuinely enjoyed reading Graham'. Now if i can just get him to put it on Pool. It's in the duffle bag. it is in good company, with Graham's!
