Image: The Argyle Stairs 1930 to 2008
This image had a real twist in the making. We recently visited Sydney and met with Fiona from the National Library for an interview, on the way home we stopped on the southern side of the harbour bridge to wander around and photograph various sites. This image was taken of the Argyle steps in the rocks. On return home we found that the same image was taken of this policeman in the exact location during the 1930's.
Heres the original image
Perfect to do a rehash for Re-Picture Australia.

This picture gives me the sensation that I am peering down a time portal, as I look down the stairs, and that I can travel to another era at the end and go through a door into the 1930s. Very tasteful and well done.

Wow, congratulations!
Dear Ross, I had you pegged as a favorite early on in the Re-Picture Australia project.
The Justice and Police Museum contributed the original photograph from their collection of 130,000 negatives created by NSW Police between 1912 and 1964. It’s great to see such a fresh take on this iconic image from the ‘City of Shadows Sydney Police Photographs 1912-1948’ publication.
For further inspiration visit our blog, http://blogs.hht.net.au/justice
or the museum’s photography space in Sydney, www.hht.net.au/museums/justice_and_police_museum
... we also continually add new photographs to our online collection www.hht.net.au/research/picture_collection
Best wishes,
Holly.
