Artist Statement

In this vast universe, an artist is responsible for acquiring a formula to deal with life in a reactive dynamic way - to uncover the controversial relationships of environmental balance. I began as a painter and a ceramist in the 1960s. Throughout my long journey as a painter I have combined the symbolism of the Iraqi environment with today's modern colours for my works. I refer back to the days of Mesopotamia and ask myself “How can the ideas of our past be conveyed with today's modern techniques?”. I try to accomplish this task. I aim to place a brick on the strong foundation our past fathers based on the symbols of art.
