The Miles Franklin award will be announced on the evening of Thursday 18th June. Who should win? Do you agree with the shortlist? Why aren't there any women on the list?

The shortlist is:
Breath - Tim Winton (Penguin)
Ice - Louis Nowra (Allen & Unwin)
The Pages - Murray Bail (Text Publishing Melbourne Australia)
The Slap - Christos Tsiolkas (Allen & Unwin)
Wanting - Richard Flanagan Knopf (Random House Australia)

I set myself a reading challenge this year to complete reading the shortlist before the award is announced of which I have done . I do believe the judges have a most difficult task in selecting the winner and my thoughts are that The Slap will probably win .
Wanting by Richard Flanagan is my pick although the remaining three novels Breath, Ice or The Pages are all worthy of the prize if selected.
