Forum post: What's happening on The Book Show this week?
We thought that we needed a forum to let the Book Show listeners whats coming up next week. We'll try and update this every Wednesday or Thursday so you'll know whats going out through the airwaves.
Remember that we want your contributions! If you create somthing great we might be able to play it! This is your space to get creative! You can upload pictures, video, text and audio.
Anyway... back on topic. We have a week of specials on next weeks Book Show. Following on from last week’s discussion on what makes up the Australian literary canon this week, The Book Show is looking at five great Australian books:
Monday - Marcus Clarke’s The Term of his Natural Life
Tuesday - Fergus Hume’s Mystery of the Hansom Cab
Wednesday - Patrick White’s Solid Mandala
Thursday – Thea Astley’s The Multiple Effects of Rainshadow
Friday – Xavier Herbert’s Capricornia
What are your reasons why your favourite Australian novel should be part of the canon? We want to hear your thoughts!
SNUGGLEPOT AND CUDDLEPIE -

SNUGGLEPOT AND CUDDLEPIE - of course - why would anyone think to leave it out? It involves a love of Australian plants, great sense of humour (for the adults reading it to the kids) wonderful imaginative use of characters for the kids, fantastic art work. I use it with both kids and overseas visitors to show them some of the features of many Australian plants ........... from my very own copy, owned since I was 5 yrs old.
MAY GIBBS is (was) a STAR!!!! Brilliant writer and artist and naturalist.
