Blog: It’s not just radio, it’s active!
As many of our partner education institutions begin to wind down for the academic year, it's heating up at RMIT Melbourne's Radio Active Space. The third year radio students have been busy sharing their radio plays, mash ups, and soundscapes on Pool. It all went public at last Tuesday's 2009 Media Showcase.
This hive of creativity will be bundled into a radiophonic feature program Forgotten by their lecturer and radio producer Kyla Brettle. It will be broadcast on Radio National’s The Night Air.
This next generation of cutting edge digital media producers have shown they have the skills that will pay the media bills! Some of the standout remixes and mash ups are Battles by Tom Andronas, The Devils Care by Garner Auwaerter, Time Is Not On Our Side, by Hannah Valmadre, and Public Domain by Daphne Khoo.
The significant radio documentaries are the Neighbours in my Head by Andy D. Smith and Daphne Khoo and The Sins of the Father by Tom Andronas and Garner Auwaerter.
But that’s just our opinion, jump over to their page and check them all out.
As well as the RMIT projects there have been some other inspiring Pool and Education institution collaborations recently:
* The Venice Biennale Australian Schools Call-out It's been great to see very young creatives emerge and share.
* The Sound Design and Production course at the Uni of Canberra has been using Pool to host and share their course work. Lecturer Stephen Barrass has set some nice creative challenges and the students have responded with some very fresh approaches.
