Q150 Steam Train Writers

Blog: Q150 Steam Train Writers

We’re very excited that our Pool team has grown. Welcome Andrew!

I’ve been wanting to say hello for a while! My name is Andrew Davies and I’m the newest member of the Pool Team. I’ve only officially been onboard for the last month or so, and the first project I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in is the Q150 Steam Train.

What’s the steam train? Well the steam train is a project involving the Queensland Writers Centre and Pool. At the moment 3 authors are making their way from Townsville to Mt Isa, as part of a number of events being held this year to celebrate Queensland’s 150 years of independence from New South Wales.

The writers are holding a number of different events, readings and workshops with many local schools along the way.

The Writers have created a group on Pool and have been uploading some photos and audio over the last few days. If you get a chance, then I know they’d be really keen to get some of your comments and feedback.

There will be a second Q150 steam train journey in August, where three more writers will be journeying from Brisbane to Charleville. I’m very happy to say that Pool will also be involved in that trip as well!

I’ll be working a few days a week with the Pool team. I’m based in Brisbane and in the other half of my week I’m the Producer of the Future Tense program on ABC Radio National. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m passionate about all things digital and seem to spend most of my life online!

I’m really looking forward to talking to many of you (and seeing your work!) over the next few months. For those of you on Twitter, you can follow me here as well.

Please feel free to comment on this blog post as we always love to hear your comments and thoughts. Log-in to Pool and you’ll see a comment box below this post. If you’re not a member, take a moment to join Pool first.
