Synopsis
Before there were sirens, there were bells. Before there were alarms, there were towers. Before the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, there was chaos. Discover the story of firefighting in the late 1800’s, the man that changed history and the building that saw it all.

Recently heritage listed, the Prahran Fire Tower is the last remaining station in Victoria that was built to house volunteer fire brigades. Tucked away in a quiet lane off Chapel Street, this significant piece of history has blended into the background. Ignored and forgotten for decades, it has been absorbed as part of the City Council offices.

Follow us as we trace the history of this remarkable building still standing.
