Synopsis
NOT SAVING THE WORLD: IN THE STUDIO WITH THE NED COLLETTE BAND documents the experience of Melbourne musician Ned Collette and his band members Joe Talia and Ben Bourke as they record and mix their third album - their first as a band. This observational documentary tracks their journey from an album preview gig at a small venue in Fitzroy, to the recording and mixing of the album at Head Gap Studios in Preston.
NOT SAVING THE WORLD gives an insight into the experiences of independent musicians across Australia. The feature takes an insider's perspective of the live scene, the recording experience, and the process of negotiating an album's release. The listener is invited into a world that is unfamiliar to many, yet a way of life to others. Artists often navigate their way through a slew of obstacles as they fight to have their music heard. Ned, Joe and Ben discuss these obstacles and identify what really matters to them in relation to their music.
