I take your point about too loud. I listened on my programme and it was ok, but on pool it is rather loud. I was spoilt last year as I was a newsreader for a community radio station and had fantastic facilities to play with in their studios. Thanks again, and now we wait for the highest tide of the year on the 8/2/09 at 4.1 mt.
Great story! And a great read. I really get a sense of the atmosphere and tension, plus lots of interesting details. I liked learning about the half submerged dinghies for instance.
I think the rain is very effective especially when left by it self at the end, but possibly a bit too loud. I check things like this by listening back at low volumes on a little speaker.
Also there are some thumps and bumps that sound like wind noise, if so this can be cured by the use of a 'pop shield' You can make one with a coat-hanger and a stocking see halfway down this page http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may05/articles/popshields.htm
