By all accounts the Mersey has started to recover, I recall as a young Sculpture student I dreaded getting splashed when sailing on the river ~ it had an acrid chemical whiff! The Docklands too are reborn ~ we would break into the ruins of the Albert Dock to nick stuff to make sculpture, wandering around in Blitz damaged and probably very unsafe structures. Now the old commercial harbours are filled with pleasure vessels ~ Maritime-lite.
