Run Silent Run Deep

Here is a small linear stereo file taken from a vast database of audio material collected during my recent Artist in Residence with the Tropical Science Research Institute of the National University of Singapore. The project developed an audio-portrait of Singapore island, focussing upon the Maritime environment and was exhibited in the National Museum of Singapore as part ofISEA 2008.

The installation consisted of a powerful 12.2 speaker array driven by an interactive table-top projection surface, operating with the AudioNomad system (developed at UNSW by the AudioNomad Research Group).

Using a 3D Connexion device, visitors were able to navigate through the soundscape composition embedded in a digital chart of the island to produce a reatime surround-sound mix correspinding to their position, direction and velocity.
